It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday!!!

  • What were your favorite discoveries or exercises on this learning journey? Some of the fun exercise that I liked were the Animoto and the spiffytext which was Thing 21 and 9. I feel they brought out the creativity within me. I showed my frat brother the Animoto website and they made funny immature videos but they love the site as well.
  • How has this program affected your lifelong learning goals? This program allowed me to understand technology a bit more. It also showed that there is much more out there than goggle that can be useful in everyday life. I have become more skilled with being creative using technology.
  • Were there any take-a-ways or unexpected outcomes from this program that surprised you? No I don't think there were any surprises to me. I mean some of the task were difficult to follow and needed teacher's assistance but I manage to figure it out on my own.
  • What could we do differently to improve upon this program’s format or concept? Thing to do different to improve this program is give detail instructions on some of the exercise. I found myself to be a lost child on most but they were all a learning experience.
  • How will what you have learned influence your practice as a teacher? It offered many alternate instructional strategies that I can use with my students and to better myself as a teacher.
  • How do you plan to keep up with new developments in web 2.0? Recommend a way that you have found to be useful.

Thing #23

I found a similar site that use 2.0 tools and it is http://sjlibrary23.blogspot.com/.
Some of the things on this site were similar to the activities that we had to complete in this class.

AS a future teacher I would use Creative Commons in a way to educate my students when to use copy right and also creative commons. I will also be taking ideas form the site with permission to help with my instructional strategies in the class. Understanding the law as a teacher is really important so you can be a great model for your students when its time for them to do research and collect data from the web.

Animoto was great!! I love making the creation that I did. My creation was based on my years in college from each year starting as a freshman and going on up.  I think this would be a great thing for students to do because many things happen throughout their life especially when their young so why not post it.

Thing #22

The name of my Live Binders are Science Resources, History of America, and Cell Reproductions. I choose to do different binders on different things. This will give students an option to explore the binder of their desire.

<iframe src="http://livebinders.com/play/play?id=1180831&present=true" height="500" width="100%">Your browser does not support iframes.</iframe>

My link is to the Science Resources Binder. I am not sure if I embedded it right but I choose this one because I love science. I have examples of things that can be done inside the classroom that are hands on for the students. It  has many activities that can be done in relation to many topics. This site was really to navigate too. One of my favorite things.

Thing #20

My experience with youtube has always and will always be a good one. There are many resources for us out there to download music on to our devices for free but I choose to still listen to Youtube. I think its offers various options to choose from. I mean I don't think that there is a video you could not think of that is not on youtube. It's also quite easy and fun to upload a video of your owns. I think my future students could view this and maybe do a project with this website.
I chose this video because there is a serious issue with the diverity gap with teachers vs students. This is a problem that needs to be solved within the next few years.

Thing #19

The benefits of social networking for teachers are classroom discussions that can be discussed outside the classroom. Social networks increase our social interactions overall and gives us opportunity to reach out and make social connections.
I am a member of the social network Instagram. Instagram is really not a beneficial site for teachers. It is more of a personal site if you like to take photos. I don't think its wise for teachers to post pictures or videos of their students on this app because some parents may not approve.
Social networks in general are not appealing to me. I feel they are irrelevant unless you have a lot of time on your hands.  However if they were use properly and with professional etiquettes they can be very useful.

Thing #18

I have had my twitter account for about three years now. So there isn't much new insight on the sight that I haven't seen. I have never researched hash tags before, I've just posted my feelings from times to times. However searching hast tags are interesting because a variety of results pop up. Personally I think social networking is important because the world is progressing with technology everyday and these tools are out here for the people to use, so we shoudl take advantage of them in a professional way. Understanding the website first would help a bunch, because posting the wrong thing on a social network can be seen by multiple parties that are looking at you and you don't even know.
Looking through the hash tags I was amazed of all the different kinds and all the subjects that were discussed. I had no disliking while looking through the hash tags.
Students can use these tools to send updates or questions regarding assigned works. Also parents can keep up with their child are doing and some things the student can work on.

Thing #17

Tags are an advantage for everyone who surf the net on a day to day basis!! The people who love to look at the same site everyday for updates, tags does a wonderful job of organizing and saving the URL. I never used Tags as a college student but I wish I would have had the introduction to it because it is very helpful. For my students in the near future, it would be helpful because they can save the URL and  have no trouble of getting to the sites. We all know that students love to wonder off on to different site but if the sites that we want them to be on are tagged then this wouldn't be a concern.

Thing #16

  • Which start page did you choose? Why did that one appeal to you? Will you make it your permanent home page?
The page that I chose to use was Remember the Milk. I found this page interesting because it has a picture of a cow on the front and I love animals. I don't think I would make it my permanent homepage even though this is a very useful and helpful site for a college student, teacher, or whatever career one has chosen.

  • How can the online calendars be useful to you?
Online calendars are helpful to me because it allows me to view my schedule at any point. Even if I don't have a computer in front of me I can use it on my smart phone.
  • Did you find a tool that has some uses for you at the school or at home? Which tool(s) would you recommend to others?
I like the tabs that were for school. They were very useful. It lets you set it up where you can put your assignments in order of priority. I thought that this was very unique.

Thing #15

I really do not like the Wiki accesses. I guess since as a student in school we were always taught never to use Wikipedia because it is not valid. As a child and a teenager I never used it I always used true research. I didn't find the relevance of using a website as a reference when everyone is allowed to change it and add whatever they would like to it. If i was the person who created it I would want some type of ownership and have permission from others asked to use my page and change it.
My experience with using the tools in the thing seemed easy at first but it was very annoying because it wouldnt let me upload one of my blogs on the Front page. I signed in and followed all the directions, I also even uploaded my files that I wanted to appear on the front page. It never appeared. I personally would not let my students work with any wiki projects or use wiki at all dealing with my class. They are great tools but they are not helpful for everyone.

Thing #14

The tools that I chose to use is Gliffy for the flow chart and the MindMeister as a mindmap. I found the the Gliffy flow chart to website to be a bit familiar. I actually did a little research on it before in my 3040 class. I researched to see if this website could be a good tool for a student with Dyspraxia to use. Students with Dyspraxia have a hard time analyzing things and a flow chart would be a great tool for them I believe personally. They can start off with a key idea and find concepts around that and expand outward from it. However, I didn't find any relationship between Dyspraxia students and the gliffy flowchart website. There is a software that is quite similar to Gliffy that students with Dyspraxia do use and its called MindMapping Software. Actually its kinda similar to both of the tools I used but they are good tools to research if you have students with a disability related to Dyspraxia or Dyspraxia itself.

Thing 13

A document that I created in Google dive that I should have created years ago is my first resume. I feel so accomplished by making one. I sent it for review to my sister and my advisor and I had very few errors. I think everyone in life needs a resume, it makes talking about yourself much easier. I have also learned you get a job faster with a with a productive resume.
As a teacher I would assign my students to create a resume for themselves. I wouldn't expect everything to be perfect the first time. However it will allow them the oppurtunity to experience making one for the first time. I would assign it as a workshop project. This can be a great way to boost self esteem and great knowledge about themselves,as far as what they want to do in life and the steps they are going to take to get their.

Thing #12

I think Google is the most useful tool ever created. I think I have learned more form Google than I did in class. It is so amazing. No one should ever go through life without experiencing Google. This site can be very addicting.
One tool that was really useful to me throughout high school and college was Google translate.
This tool I used mostly for my Spanish classes. This made my classes a breeze. Google translate was good for homework help and also to help study for a test. It may be also useful if you just want to learn words for other languages.
Another tool that I thought was amazing was Google Books. I really never liked reading books at all because I automatically assumed they were boring. However, Google Books give incite on the book and it became an interest to me. So every so often I find myself buying books that I have researched on Google Books and summarizing them.

Thing #11

*Which method of finding feeds did you find easiest to use?
Looking for RSS feeds was kind of tedious at first. The one that I found to be easiest to find feeds was the Google Blog Search engine. Also the Search engine provided in Feedly itself was very helpful.

*Which was more confusing?
I really did not find any of the Engines to be difficult.

*What kind of useful feeds did you find in your travels?
I found Belinda Pollard blog useful. In her blog she gave tips on what blogs are worth reading and which ones are not. She also gave some examples in her blog of which blogs you should read.
http://www.smallbluedog.com/4-useful-blogs-to-get-you-started-in-self-publishing.html

*Or what kind of unusual ones did you find?
Nothing was found unusual about my blogs at all.

*What other tools or ways did you find to locate newsfeeds?
Some other ways that I found useful in finding news feeds is through Yahoo. I really never paid to much attention to Yahoo. However they have useful information and tools that can be very helpfuls

Thing #10

RSS is a faster way to get to information rather than searching page to page to find certain information. This makes the news that I like more convenient. The information is listed all at once in my feedly. The top five that I have in my feedly are CNN, ESPN, VH1, Yahoo NFL News, and USA Today. I utilize these sites everyday to keep up with the parts and entertainment I'm interested in. Teachers can use these to integrate in classrooms by letting the students at the beginning of the day see what's going on in the world. Many kids today are not interested in news and do not watch it. I remember when i was in class they let us watch television for the first 20 minutes to see what was going on in the world and what was important to know for that day. So this would be a great tool for teachers to update the knowledge of their students to whatever information they wanted them to know.

Thing #9

This task was very difficult because some of the websites were not cooperating right. However, it was a good task to help familiarize yourself with different websites. The photos I chose to use is a inspirational quote that I find helpful. Also I created a collage of me and some of my brothers.
This tool would be useful in class if explained properly. The students would be able to create funny pictures and different works to illustrate their ideas. This would be a creativity project in class just so the students can explore and see what's out there. Hopefully, they will have fun and be able to print their creations out and take it with them as a memorable thing.

Thing #8

This  website was kind of hard to figure out, but I got it. When I got the hang of it I couldn't stop creating pictures. The tool that I used to create my pictures was My Big Huge Lab. The pictures that I posted was a motivational post and a jigsaw of me and my mother. I would let the kids in my classroom use the My Big Huge app to create any kind of creation they wanted that was appropriate and they could share to the classroom. They would explain what they used and how it was created.
Using my pictures to share, I don't agree with. Their to personal for me to share. I don't think students in school should share pictures because I don't think its right.

Things #7

The Flickr website is an extraordinary website. I found it to be amazing because I like to look at different pictures, especially pictures dealing with animals. The picture that I chose to pick was a picture of elephants.
Credits to @doug88888
Doug's page I really liked because it was full of animals. It was difficult for me to pick one to post. Elephants has always been fascinating creatures to me.
The tags help narrow an search option down so a person wouldn't have a wide variety of things that one is not interested in at that particular time.
Flickr can be used in school to help children learn about the website. Also to use these picture to help them with their projects are in class assignments.

Thing #6

This Thing was very fascinating. Looking through all the Web 2.0 tools was enriching. I learned about tools that I never knew existed. This Web 2.0 tool is a good tool for everyone to explore because their is something on there that would be interesting to them. It is a wide variety of tool and its hard just looking at one without looking at others.
The tool that I though was interesting was UJam. I liked Ujam because I love music. This tools allows you to create your own particular music and record whatever you want. This is perfect for me because I write songs and I make music. SO this particular tool would be very useful for me and would give me a new outlet of choices to choose from.
Ujam can be used in schools if the students where doing an art project or they were in a music class. This would help them record their music and save it and come back and add more on to it. This tool also would allow them to share it with friends and family if they wanted to.

Thing #5

School 2.0 is an opportunity for growth with different learning techniques and methods using technology. This will be beneficial to students and teachers. Teachers can use teachers to be more accurate with their studies and teaching methods. With this evolution of new technology in school it allows student to strengthen their capabilities in certain areas. These areas can consist of research, online help, and a variety of different social medias that are educational based.
These new technologies provide a more advanced future. It can innovate more technology options other than computers, such as ipads. This also can bring forth better improved smart boards with clickers that gives students a chance to participate without having to write anything down; a click of the clicker would show their participation. Technology will draw students attention because that's all that they surround themselves with. Hopefully with this new technology they can someday integrate game systems into classrooms that would benefit students in learning different subjects. I think that this will bring schools into a new direction of success and may graduation rates will rise in certain areas that they are very low. Web 2.0 has and will open different doors to better knowledge and better resources

Thing #4

Being allowed to see other people blogs is a really unique experience. However commenting on them bring a new adventure that allows you to interact with the people about their post. By commenting It allows others to get a full understanding, ask variety of questions, and just to respectfully agree or disagree with the different post. When receiving the comments it allows you to explain yourself and point out key ideas of your particular blog. Something that stood out to me is how commenting on others blog allows them and privilege you of spreading the word of my posts.
In my class, I commented on Melissa "Spanglish, say what", Whitney Valdez Thing 2, Haley McCaskill Thing 6, Kayla Kitchens Thing 3, and Michaela Crutcher Thing 4. I just express my opinions of the different blogs I were reading. I enjoyed reading every post and letting them know everything I though was fascinating about them. I hope I get comments on my post as well.
In outside classes I commented on Joya Threakill Thing6 and Cynthia Gray Thing 11. I complemented them on their post. I was interested with their post and told them how I relate them to my everyday lifestyle.

Thing #3

For teaching matters, I would use my Blog as a recap for my students. I would allow them after every week to post how they felt that week, what are things they did not understand, things they can improve on, and things that they have learned. This would be considered a weekend homework assignment for them to help me understand what they accomplished and what they could use help with. I also would create a blog for my fellow co-workers to upload things that could help my students and myself as far as different tools and websites that aided them in the classroom.

Thing #2

Creating a blog for the first time ever was pretty amazing. Making an avatar to fit in with my character was entertaining, which made the blog more interesting. As I mentioned this is my first time ever using a blog. I have always heard of blogs but I never used or read any before this subject area. Creating the blog for the first time was easy with no difficulties at all.
My name of my blog is Bluphi77. The reason I chose this name is because I am in a fraternity and that is one of our sayings. It is also easy to remember for me. My avatar resembles me perfectly because i am a laid back type of guy and the avatar pretty much fits that personality.

Thing #1

While going through the tutorial the habit that I found most easy and effective is using technology. Technology can take an increasing amount of workload off the learner. It make difficult situations become very simple, and by it changing everyday it becomes more useful to the learners.
On the other hand the habit that I find challenging to me is having confidence in yourself as a competent effective learner. I feel this is challenging because I always think there is someone out there who will always be smarter and wiser than I. Sometimes this makes me feel less useful and there's no point in progression. However, through life everyone is unique and everyone has a purpose.
Using this Web 2.0 tool I hope to become more efficient with using Blogs and understanding the purpose of them.
